How do TISSUPOR® Wound Pads work?
The innovative three-dimensional structure of the surface with specific pore openings between 10 µm and 3 mm promotes the ingrowing of cells and capillaries and thus the formation of granulation tissue. TISSUPOR® Wound Pads promote the angiogenesis by mechanical stimulation of the wound ground and by induction of micro-bleedings when changing the dressing.

What is the absorption capacity of TISSUPOR® Wound Pads?
Ø 85 mm: about 20 to 22 ml Ringers solution (according to the product version)
Ø 63 mm: about 11 to 13 ml Ringers solution (according to the product version)
Ø 43 mm: about 5 to 6 ml Ringers solution (according to the product version)

How can we see that there is a saturation of absorption?
The attractive print design on white ground allows an easy control at first sight of the saturation of the dressing.

Are TISSUPOR® Wound Pads applied dry or soaked with any kind of solution? Does it require to be with Ringer Solution?
TISSUPOR® Wound Pads are usually applied dry, but with slightly secreting wounds or necrotic wounds they can also be used soaked with Ringers solution (20 to 22 ml with wound pad 85 mm in diameter, see Pt. 3 Absorption capacitiy for quantity)

How often do you need to change the wound pad?
Product change every 3 to 4 days, up to 7 days according to the exudation of the wound.

How do we have to protect the wound edges?
With wounds where it is necessary to protect the edges, we recommend e.g. calcium alginate in form of a rope.

What is the weight hold for TISSUPOR® Wound Pads?
For e.g. Allevyn-cavity holds up to 20 times of its volume weight.
Weight hold for the final product: 4.5 to 5 times its weight according to the thickness of the product version
Weight hold for the SAP-part: 20 to 25 times its weight

Yes, an overlapping of the dressings does not harm the healing of the wound at all.

No, TISSUPOR® Wound Pads do not contain any pharmaceutical properties. They are medical devices.

I assume that the pads are individually wrapped and packed into boxes?
Yes, TISSUPOR Wound Pads are individually wrapped and packed into boxes with 5 dressings (boxes of 20 dressings might be offered some day)

Are TISSUPOR® Wound Pads suited for patients suffering from burns?
No, TISSUPOR® Wound Pads are not suited for burns.

Are there any product application related issues such as type of application and wounds i.e. with vacuum assisted closure, plastic, muscle and graft?
Vacuum:
first applications of combined Vacuum-TISSUPOR show positive results so far
Plastic:
flap plastic by Dr. Wanner, Head Wound Care Clinic in CH-Nottwil, with no adverse reaction at all since the first operation in spring 2000 (more than a dozen of operations by end of may 2001 by Dr. Wanner)
Muscle:
positive, no signs of any negative aspects so far
Graft:
Within the application study more than 50 patients were treated with TISSUPOR® Wound Pads before closure with any kind of graft. Excellent granulation as a good basis for any type of wound closure. No adverse effects at all so far.
